How to use this page

A “sold out” campsite is one problem; a closed park is another — and the second one ruins trips. Roads wash out, wildfires jump containment, water systems fail, and a campground you booked months ago can be shut the week you arrive. This page pulls the official closure and advisory notices for the parks we cover into one place, grouped by state, so you can check before you drive.

We don't interpret or soften anything. National-park advisories come from the National Park Service's alerts system (all 50 states), and California's come from California State Parks' Significant Incidents feed. Each advisory carries its own category — full closure, caution, or information — and a link to the original notice. We're wiring in more states' feeds as we widen coverage, and every one lights up here automatically.

We refresh California State Parks advisories every few hours from the state's official incident feed, and pull National Park Service alerts on their publishing schedule — so closures here are typically current within hours. Every card shows when its source last updated it.
Where does the closure data come from?
Straight from official sources: the National Park Service alerts system for national parks, monuments and recreation areas, and California State Parks' Significant Incidents feed for California. We don't editorialize — we surface what the managing agency reports, and link to the original notice.
How do I find out if a specific park is closed?
Open your state from the list above to see every current advisory there, or search the park on GetParkAlerts and check its page. If it's open now but you want to be sure — or you're chasing a sold-out campsite — subscribers get an alert the moment its status changes.
What's the difference between a full closure and a partial closure or advisory?
A full closure means the park or campground is closed to entry. A partial closure or advisory means it's open but limited — a closed loop, a boil-water notice, fire restrictions, a washed-out road. Every card is color-coded by severity so you can tell at a glance.
Why do parks and campgrounds close?
Most often: wildfire and fire restrictions, flooding and storm damage, seasonal weather (high-country snow), infrastructure and water-system repairs, and occasionally funding lapses. Coastal parks close for hurricanes; desert parks for extreme heat.
