The Bidwell Mansion SHP is currently closed due to the Bidwell Mansion Fire on 12/11/2024. The visitor center and carriage house are still in good condition but remain closed currently. There is no anticipated date for reopening any portion of this park.

Special Events are planned throughout the year for visitors to access the trails, connect with nature, and explore California history. The San Diego Archeology Center located within the park provides visitors with more to explore.

Marsh Creek State Park is not open to the public at this time. There is a small portion of the property (Round Valley Staging Area) that is open year-round and operated by an Operating Agreement with East Bay Regional Park District that serves as a parking & equestrian staging area for the public that serves East Bay Regional Park District owned property (Round Valley Regional Preserve). El Capitan State Beach is fully open for day use and partially open for camping as of 6/23/2026. The middle loops, upper loops and group camp areas are fully open on a first come first served basis through 6/28/2026. On 6/29/2026 the same areas will be open for reservations. The lower loop (spaces 1-28) is still closed due to active trail construction in that area by the CCC and the CA State Parks trails crew. The pedestrian path into the park is partially open and there are signs designating the pedestrian walkway adjacent to the closed path.

Due to a landslide on the Perimeter Road in December 2024, tram tours are taking an alternate route to avoid the area near the Nike Missile Site on the south side of Angel Island. At this time only vehicle traffic is affected. Visitors hiking and biking on Perimeter Road are able to pass the area and are not impacted by the landslide.

The terminus of the Palmers Point Trail has been impacted by storm surges, eroding the last few stairs and making beach access at this point unsafe. The trail is closed until further notice.

Mecca Beach Campground is currently closed for maintenance repairs. It is unknown when the campground will reopen. The main campground remains open and available for camping and day use activities.

Silverwood Lake SRA is currently closed to all swimming and water contact due to a harmful algal bloom. Water tests indicate the presence of toxins caused by blue-green algae are at the Danger Advisory Level at both swim beaches. A Danger Advisory indicates that you should stay out of the water including wading. Stay away from scum or algae, do not drink or use water for cooking. Do not eat shellfish. Do not allow pets to enter the water.

Due to the impacts of the Palisades Fire, some areas of Topanga State Park remain closed to the public. *****Effective 6/12/2026; day use facilities, backcountry service roads, and backcountry trails in Topanga State Park are open to all visitors with the following exceptions that remain closed: Rogers Road Trail, Bent Arrow Trail, Josepho Spur Trail, Rustic Canyon Trail, Lower Topanga Day Use Area and Trails, Temescal Canyon Trail**** Please Note: Topanga State Park shares boundaries with City and County of L.A., NPS, and MRCA. Please consult their public information offices regarding their closure areas. ************
