Who we are
GetParkAlerts (“we,” “us”) operates getparkalerts.com, a paid alert service for California State Park campsites, operated by Ketchup Consulting. Contact: hello@getparkalerts.com or via our contact page.
What we collect, and why
- Email address — your account identity and where alert emails are sent.
- Alert preferences — the parks, dates, party size, and notification channels you choose, so we can watch the right availability for you.
- Approximate or precise location — only if you use the optional “Near me” sort on the parks directory. Location is read in your browser to sort the list and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers. Under California law (CPRA), precise geolocation is “sensitive personal information” — since we never receive it, we never use or disclose it.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Square, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number. We receive from Square your subscription status and the email you used at checkout. Square's handling of your data is governed by Square's Privacy Notice.
- Push-notification subscription — if you enable push alerts, your browser gives us a delivery token so we can send them. It contains no personal details.
- Phone number — optional, and only if you turn on text alerts. We store your mobile number solely to send the alerts you asked for, and only after you give express consent by ticking the box in your dashboard. Message & data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out at any time, or turn text alerts off in your dashboard.
Cookies & analytics
We set essential authentication cookies (via Supabase) that keep you signed in, and we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — pages visited, general region, and device type — so we can improve it. We have ad-personalization features turned off, and we run no advertising pixels and no third-party marketing cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser opt-out add-on or by using a browser that blocks analytics cookies.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information, and never have.
- We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not send marketing on behalf of third parties.
Affiliate links
Some campground pages carry affiliate links to third parties such as RV rental marketplaces and gear retailers. If you click one and go on to book or buy, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
These links never influence which campgrounds we list, which ones we watch, or which alerts we send — those are driven entirely by the official reservation data. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to that company's own site, where their privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours. We do not pass your name, email, or any account information to them.
Who processes data for us
Service providers under contract: Supabase (database & authentication), Vercel (hosting), Square (payments), and our email delivery provider (alert and account email). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account exists. If you delete your account or ask us to, we delete your profile, alerts, and notification history within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax or accounting purposes (e.g., Square transaction records).
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may, at any time and without penalty:
- Know — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Delete — request deletion of your personal information.
- Correct — request correction of inaccurate information.
- Opt out of sale or sharing — noted for completeness: we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
To exercise any right, email hello@getparkalerts.com from your account email address. We respond within 45 days as the law requires — usually much faster. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children
GetParkAlerts is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, email account holders before the change takes effect.
