About this campground

The Scab Creek Backpacker parking area is located within the Scab Creek Recreation Area. It provides access for those wishing to hike Scab Creek or Scab Lake Trails. These trails travel through the Scab Creek Wilderness Study Area before connecting to the greater Bridger Wilderness trails system at in the foothills of the Wind River Range.

Getting there

From Pinedale, drive south on US 191 for 12 miles, turn left at the gas station in the town of Boulder, and head east on WY 353 for 7 miles. Take another left onto Scab Creek Road/CR-122, follow this road for 1.45 miles take a slight left onto Scab Creek Access Road/BLM 5423 and follow it until you reach Scab Creek Recreation Area, roughly 5.5 miles.
