About this campground

This trailhead provides access to Big Creek Trail #377 which enters Strawberry Mountain Wilderness and many other trails.  Offering opportunities for both day hiking and backpacking trips. Horse facilities provide a convenient jumping off point for access to the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.  The trailhead and trail see the highest usage during big game hunting seasons.

Getting there

From Prairie City, OR., turn south onto South Main Street.  Follow South Main Street to the junction with Bridge Street.  Turn left onto Bridge Street, follow Bridge Street out of town this road then becomes County Road 62, follow County Road 62 to the junction with Forest Road 16 at Summit Prairie. Turn west onto Forest Road 16, follow Forest Road 16 approximately 7 miles to the junction with Forest Service road 924 Follow Forest Road 924 approximately 2.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 1648. Follow Forest Road 1648 for approximately 0.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 021.  Follow Forest Road 021 approximately 2.5 miles to the trailhead.
