About this campground
Leaf Wilderness is a 940-acre tract of land in the floodplains of the Leaf River. All but the western edge of the wilderness, which is uplands, consist of meandering sloughs, oxbow lakes, and level terrain. Vegetation is mostly loblolly-shortleaf pine forest and oak-gum-cypress-spruce pine on the river bottoms. Access to this area is from the 1.5-mile hiking trail. This area is open to foot travel only. Leaf Wilderness is open year-round unless weather conditions require the area to be closed. No user fees required.
Getting there
The Wilderness is located on the east side of state HWY 57, approximately 10 miles north of Benndale, MS, and 6 miles south of McLain, MS.
