About this campground
The Acadians who made their home along Louisiana’s bayous created a unique Cajun culture shaped by life on the water. The center shares their stories through a short film, permanent and special exhibits, live music, walking tours of Thibodaux, and boat tours of Bayou Lafourche. Admission is free for the center and most programs. Enjoy our interactive playroom for kids of all ages, and explore our art gallery, featuring amazing artwork from Louisiana artists! Getting there
Bayou Lafourche runs through the city of Thibodaux; Highway 308 follows its north bank and Highway 1 its south bank. The center is located on the south bank of Bayou Lafourche near downtown Thibodaux and the Jackson Street bridge on the Hwy 1 side. Getting There From New Orleans (~60 miles), driving - via I‑10 and LA‑1—well-marked and typically under 1.5 hours depending on traffic. From Baton Rouge (~70 -75 miles) driving - via I‑10 East from Baton Rouge, then merge onto US‑90 East toward Thibodaux.
