About this campground

This trail climbs to the top of Beards Mountain, and provides spectacular views of Warm Springs Mountain and the Cowpasture River Valley. The south end of the trail ends on the boundary line between the Forest Service and Douthat State Park, and offers a view of Douthat Lake. The Gillam Run Trail, also located on Forest Road 361 (Hickman Draft) and ending on the Beards Mountain Trail, provides another access point. Trail Open To:

Getting there

From Warm Springs:  Take Highway 39 east for 7.8 miles.  Turn right on SR 629 and go 8.4 miles.  Turn left on FR 361 (Hickman Draft) and travel approximately 1.3 miles to the left spur road.  Bear left and continue for approximately 1.0 mile to the gate.  There is limited parking available. The trailhead is approx. 2.2 miles down the road on the right.
