This park offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as hiking/biking trails, boat launching, picnic sites and good access for bank fishing. Recreation R Shaefer Heard Day Use is located near the shoreline of West Point Lake with easy access for bank fishing and a boat ramp for access to the lake. Facilities R Shaefer Heard Day Use offers two group shelters with two tables, grill, and restrooms each. Natural Features R Shaefer Heard Day Use is located on the shoreline of West Point Lake which extends 35 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia state line and has 525 miles of shoreline.
