About this campground
Old Timers Day-Use Area, on the east shore of Vallecito Reservoir, is 1.5 miles north of the dam on County Road 501A (Forest Rd. 603). Ten shaded picnic sites are on a gentle hillside near the water, with an adjacent gravel boat ramp. Services include picnic tables, restrooms, potable water and trash pickup. This is a very popular area for boating and fishing.
Getting there
From Durango, CO: Travel 17 miles on Florida Road, County Road #240. Turn left onto County Road #501. After 4 miles, slight right onto Forest Road #603 for just under 1 mile. Day use area is located on the east side of Vallecito Reservoir. From Bayfield, CO: Travel 14 miles north on County Road #501, then slight right (northeast) onto Forest Road #603 for just under 1 mile. Day use area is located on the east side of Vallecito Reservoir.
