About this campground

The trail crosses the creek near the beginning and then is an easy walk through meadows most of the way. It ends at the junction with Tellurium Lake trail. From here you can hike to either Tellurium Lake, Josephine Lake or Henderson Park.

Getting there

From Carbondale travel east on Hwy 82 to Basalt and take a left into Basalt at the stoplight. Drive 27 miles up the Fryinypan Road (past Ruedi Reservoir) to Road #501 (North Fork), turning left towards Elk Wallow Campground. Approximately four miles take the left fork road onto road #506. When road #506 (Burnt Mtn. Road) crosses the first stream about 5 miles down road #506, the trailhead is on the upstream side of the road.
