About this campground

The Failes Creek Trail #230 begins near the Alpine Guard Station and ends at the Fall Creek Trailhead.  It climbs from the Guard Station through an Engelmann spruce forest.  This trail ends before the Uncompahgre Wilderness boundary, so mountain bikes are allowed to the wilderness boundary.                                     Geo-Ref Trail Map      Geo-Reference Instructions      Map to Trailhead

Getting there

Failes Creek Trail Access: From Lake City, travel north on Gunnison Highway 149 for approximately 10 miles to the intersection with the Alpine Forest Access Road, FSR #868.  Turn left and follow FSR #868 for approximately 11 miles to the Alpine Guard Station.  The Failes Creek Trail starts on the west side of Big Blue Creek about ¼ miles from the Guard Station.
