About this campground
The Crag to Cobbett Trail #749 was built to serve as a connecting rouute between Cobbett Lake Campground and Crag Crest Trail #711 which is a National Recreation Trail. From its junction with the Crag Crest Trail, it is just a short distance to the west parking area and then across Hwy 65 to Grand Mesa Lodge. For hikers heading from Crag Crest Trail to Cobbett Lake, once reaching Cobbett Lake it is a short distance around the lake to the Visitors Center via Cobbett Lake Trail #747. The Crag to Cobbett Trail is suited for most types and ages of hikers. Snow often hinders use of this trail until late June or early July. Geo-Ref Trail Map Geo-Reference Instructions
Getting there
NORTH ACCESS: Travel for approximately 22 miles south on Hwy 65 from Mesa, or travel north for approximately 17 miles from Cedaredge. to the Crag Crest Trailhead. The Crag Crest Trail #711 begins out of the southeast corner of the parking area. Follow the Crag Crest Trail for approximately 0.2 miles to the Crag to Cobbett Trailhead. EASTERN ACCESS: Travel approximately 23 miles south on Hwy 65 from Mesa,or travel north approximately 16 miles from Cedaredge to the Cobbett Lake Campground. The Crag to Cobbett Trail begins of the north (left) side of the entrance road just 10 feet after turning off Hwy 65.
