About this campground
The Cottonwood Trail #103 begins at Forest Service Road 504, Cottonwood Road, and ends at Forest Service Road #501, Cabin Bench Road. The trail gradually descends for the first 0.4 miles before it switchbacks into Cottonwood Basin. It crosses the basin and in about 1.6 miles it climbs slightly onto Sawmill Mesa. It crosses Sawmill Mesa, intersecting FSR #529, Sawmill Mesa Road, in about 2 miles. In another 0.7 miles it terminates at FSR #501. Geo-Ref Trail Map Geo-Reference Instructions
Getting there
From Delta: Turn west on Highway 348, 6th Street. Travel west and south on HWY 348 for approximately 4 miles to 25 Mesa Road. Continue on 25 Mesa Road for approximately 18 miles the National Forest Boundary where 25 Mesa Road becomes Forest Service Road #503. Continue on FSR #503 for approximately 4.2 miles to FSR #504. The trail access is approximately 0.08 miles on FSR #504 on the north side of the road. From Montrose: Travel west on Highway 90 for approximately 23 miles to the intersection with Forest Service Road #402, Divide Road. Follow FSR #402 north for approximately 16.5 miles to FSR #503, Delta-Nucla Road. Turn north onto FSR #503 and continue for approximately 5.1 miles to FSR #504. The trail access is approximately 0.08 miles on FSR #504 on the north side of the road.
