About this campground

Overview The Parish Cabin Campground sets along Bear Creek affording fishing opportunities.  The campground is within minutes of Logan Valley an exceptional place for viewing wildflowers during spring and early summer.  Hikers are within a short drive to trail heads leading into the beautiful Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.  This campground is very popular with hunters.  A wildfire burned through the area in 2012 and again in 2015; visitors have the unique ability to view the effects and benefits of wildfire in the surrounding countryside.  Recreation Visitors can enjoy fishing Bear creek and excellent wildflower viewing in Logan Valley just minutes away in the spring and summer. Several nearby trailheads provide access to hiking in the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. The campground is a favored base for hunters throughout the hunting seasons. Facilities Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and parking for camp trailers. Accessible vault toilets are conveniently located in the middle of the campground. Getting there

From the town of John Day, OR., travel south on US Highway 395 for approximately 12 miles to the junction with County Road 65.  Travel on County Road 65 for approximately 8 miles the road then changes to Forest Road 15.  Travel on Forest Road 15 approximately 4 miles to the junction with Forest Road 16, turn west onto Forest Road 16 and travel for approximately 1 mile, the campground will be on the right.
