About this campground
Overview Badger Flats Group Camp sits in a quiet and isolated area along Rancheria Creek, at an elevation of over 8,000 feet in the High Sierra. The site sits on open and flat land shaded by fir trees and can accommodate up to 100 people and 35 vehicles. Recreation There is trailhead access to the Kaiser Wilderness. There is also a trail that connects to the California Riding and Hiking Trail. There is a sandy area along Rancheria Creek, and wading is possible. Facilities Horses are permitted in this camp, but no equestrian amenities are provided. Each unit has a grill, fire ring, bear-proof food locker and picnic table. Vault toilets are provided. Drinking water is not available at this campground.Natural Features The Sierra National Forest, located on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada, is known for its spectacular mountain scenery and abundant natural resources. The terrain includes rolling, oak-covered foothills, heavily forested middle elevation slopes and the starkly beautiful alpine landscape of the High Sierra. Nearby Attractions Huntington Lake is about 5 miles away and offers many recreational activities, including hiking, horseback riding, biking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, windsurfing and swimming. Anglers can fish for rainbow trout, brown trout or kokanne salmon. Getting there
Take Hwy 168 east from Clovis to Shaver Lake. Continue through Shaver Lake to Huntington Lake. At the east end of Huntington Lake, turn right onto Kaiser Pass Road (at Eastwood Visitor Center). Travel 5 miles up the Kaiser Pass Road to Badger Group Campground.
